Meet Melissa&

Steven!

Melissa and Steven are a husband and wife grooming team. Grooming is not a job to them, it is their career, profession, and lifestyle. They travel to several grooming expos in the country area annually, including Intergroom (NJ) Hershey GroomExpo (PA) New England Grooming Show (MA). In between grooming shows, they travel to dog shows such as Westminster, The National Dog Show, and JerseyShore Cluster. While traveling, Melissa&Steven constantly stay updated on the best industry products, giving your dog the best quality and care in turn. They also continue to take grooming and business classes taught by world renown master groomers and other top-industry professionals. They both have several certifications, and are AKC S.A.F.E Groomers.

Melissa is a retired competition groomer and show dog handler, with nearly 10 years of grooming experience. Melissa has always had a passion for all animals, and loves to make pets feel and look their very best. After working in several grooming shops, Melissa founded Groom and Zoom to raise the standard of professionalism and compassion within the pet grooming industry; and set out to treat every pet with patience, and care, with health and safety in mind. Melissa also operates a nonprofit rescue specific to the Trap-Neuter-Release program she started in her town to humanely managed the feral cat population. Fun Fact: it was Melissa who taught Steven how to haul and back up a trailer. Long before Groom and Zoom, she was behind the wheel at an early age and is also a retired race care driver.

Steven is a retired mechanic who upon seeing Groom and Zoom thrive, found a passion in the industry. His patience, precision, and attention to detail make him an exceptional bather and groomers assistant. Whether he is bathing, playing with the dogs to make them happier, or making sure the equipment runs smoothly, Steven’s dedication and passion shine in every aspect. Dogs love his laid-back, fun energy! Steven enjoys playing guitar or videogames in his free time.

Melissa&Steven have 4 large dogs- Cherokee the Great Dane (our logo) Apache & Orion, the standard poodle brothers, and Sahara the German Shepherd; as well as 2 cats (plus an outdoor TNR colony of 4 cats) and a few reptiles and frogs. In the summer, Melissa and Steven can be found with Apache and Orion at dog shows and sporting events, or wheeling their Jeep. They also love seeing the Devils hockey team play. When they aren’t grooming, Melissa and Steven coordinate and lead TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) efforts for their town’s community cats.
